The Toughman Competition which includes both women and men is coming to Croton on Hudson again this year on Sunday, September 11. This Triathalon is half the iron man but still pretty darn impressive. Participants swim the choppy and still muddy waters of the Hudson River for 1.2 miles in no more than 1 hour and 10 minutes, climb on bikes and ride through the hilly terrain of northern Westchester for 56 miles around the Croton Reservoir, the Amawalk Reservoir and the Titicus Reservoir and back to the Hudson River waterfront in Croton. They then run 13.2 impressively scenic miles through the Village and along the Croton River Valley until reaching Croton Dam Park climbing up to the Old Croton Aqueduct and continue their run from to the top of the Croton Dam then back across the dam spillway and down Route 129 through the streets of Croton returning to Croton Point Park
I’ll be just tough enough to get to Croton Point Park by 7am to cheer the amazing competitors on.
